LG comes from behind to take Game 3.

On Tuesday, LG defeated KT 8-7 in Game 3 of the 2023 KBO League Korean Series at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, South Korea, thanks to Oh Ji-hwan’s comeback three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning to clinch the Korean Series title.

LG took control early on. After two outs in the top of the third inning, LG took the lead with a three-run blast from No. 4 Austin. KT responded with an RBI single by Hwang Jae-gyun.

KT tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on an error by Oh Ji-hwan, and then took a 4-3 lead with a game-winning RBI single up the middle by Choi Soo-ho. LG responded in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run double by Park Dong-won to regain the lead at 5-4. Up until this point, LG had set the pace.

However, poor judgment on the bench proved to be a poison. The team made a rash decision to bring in closer Go Woo-seok in the eighth inning to try and seal the win.

Immediately after giving up a hit to Bae Jae-dae, Go gave up a tying single to Hwang Jae-gyun with the bases loaded and a two-run double to Park Byung-ho, giving him a blown save in Game 3 as well as Game 1. Park Byung-ho, on the other hand, turned his postseason hitting slump into a blessing in disguise with a home run.

In the bottom of the ninth, LG had runners on first and second after an infield single by Hong Chang-ki and a walk by Austin. This is where Oh came in and made up for his defensive mistake in the fifth inning by blasting a three-run shot that knocked out reliever Kim Jae-yoon.

LG had runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Lee Jung-yong, who relieved Go Woo-seok, got Kim Sang-soo to fly 스포츠토토 out to center field for the save.

LG, which took a 2-1 lead in the Korean Series, will play Game 5 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the same venue. LG will start Kim Yun-sik and KT will start Uhm Sang-baek.
