K-pop power couple HyunA and Yong Jun-hyung will tie the knot in October, according to HyunA’s agency AT AREA, Monday.
Early Monday, it was reported that their wedding will take place on Oct. 11, at an undisclosed location in Seoul, heralding the marriage of the K-pop couple. HyunA’s agency AT AREA confirmed the report, saying, “The two will begin a new chapter in their lives.”
“HyunA and Yong Jun-hyung will hold their wedding ceremony in October with close acquaintances and begin a new chapter in their lives. HyunA accepted YongJoonHyung’s proposal. They have been a great comfort to each other in difficult moments,” the agency said.
“We would like to thank everyone for their warm gaze and support. We ask for fans’ blessing for HyunA’s future as she has made this significant decision, both as an artist and as an individual.”
The couple went public with their relationship in January on social media. At that time, HyunA asked fans to “Watch over us kindly,” while Yong 한국을 said, “We’re getting along well with positive energy from each other. We hope you’ll keep your eyes on us.”
After their initial public acknowledgments, they have continued to express their affection for each other openly. In a web entertainment show, HyunA showed her smartphone’s background image set to a couple photo, saying, “Looking at this gives me strength and makes me so happy.” In March, they also made headlines when they were spotted traveling together in Thailand.
HyunA debuted in 2007 as a member of girl band Wonder Girls. She left the group the same year and re-debuted with another band 4Minute in 2009. In 2011, she gained popularity with her solo track “Bubble Pop!” and appeared in singer Psy’s mega-hit music video “Gangnam Style” the following year.
Yong debuted in 2009 as a member of the K-pop band BEAST, leaving the group in March 2019, and has since continued his activities as a solo artist.
