Tottenham have revealed their first list of departures. The club announced via its official channels on Friday that Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic are leaving the club. We thank them for their contributions and wish them well for the future.
Led by manager Enze Postecoglou, Spurs finished the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) season in sixth place with a record of 20 wins, 6 draws and 12 losses (66 points). Spurs started off strong, winning eight and drawing two of their opening 10 games. However, they lacked depth at the back, with injuries to key players leaving them disappointed. Postecoglou is reportedly looking to bolster his squad for the new season, and is looking to make some signings.
Spurs have started to make moves. According to the Daily Mail, ‘Postecoglou wants to evolve in his second season. Tottenham have said goodbye to four players. Two of them have already confirmed their moves to other clubs. The other two have become free agents.
The publication also revealed the current addresses of the players leaving Tottenham. Dier joined Bayern Munich on loan in the winter transfer window in January. He triggered his outright transfer option in March after earning a quota of appearances. He made 20 appearances for the Bavarians, and will now spend time under Vincent Kompany.
Perisic also moved to Hajduk Split in the January winter transfer window. He signed a one-year contract with Hajduk Split and will be ready for the new season. Perisic arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2022 as Antonio Conte’s first signing of the summer. The left-back’s attacking tendencies put him at odds with wing-forward Son Heung-min, and he struggled with injuries.
Sessegnon joined Tottenham from Fulham in the summer 2019 transfer window. His transfer fee at the time was £25 million. However, he only played 57 games for Spurs in five seasons. As the Daily Mail says, “Sessegnon was once considered one 안전놀이터 of England’s brightest prospects. However, injuries have hampered his progress. He will find new hope elsewhere.
Tanganga joined Tottenham in the winter transfer window in January 2020. He bounced around on loan and never really settled in at Spurs. He made 50 appearances for Spurs.
