The Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) won their first game of the season behind Kim Yoo-seong’s debut victory and home runs from Yang Seok-hwan and Yang Ji-hyun.
Doosan won 10-5 against the Hanwha Eagles of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League on Saturday at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, South Korea.
Kim Yoo-seong, who earned his first career first-team start, pitched five innings of two-run ball to earn his first professional victory. Yang Seok-hwan and Yang Ji-hyun both stole bases and exploded for home runs to knock out Hanwha Express rookie Hwang Jun-seo. Hwang Jun-seo struggled with six runs in 3⅔ innings to fall to 2-1 on the season.
Seventh-ranked Doosan, which has won two straight, improved to 14-16 on the season. Eighth-place Hanwha, meanwhile, dropped to 11-17 with a team-high sixth straight loss.
Meanwhile, Hanwha became the first KBO club to sell out 13 consecutive home games, as all 12,000 seats were filled as of 6:48 p.m. on Sunday. The team broke Samsung’s 29-year-old record of 12 games set in 1995, but failed to live up to its fans’ loyal support as it failed to end its losing streak.
Doosan substitute Kim Yoo-sung overcomes first-inning crisis to earn debut win

The first inning got off to a shaky start. In the seventh inning,
Kang Seung-ho walked and stole second before Yang Seok-hwan hit a single to right off Hanwha’s Kim Bum-soo, capping a three-hit, three-RBI performance.
