Takes sole lead with a fiery putter in the 1st round of the PGA Tour Valspar Championship
Valspar Championship 1st round leader Kevin Strillman
45-year-old veteran golfer Kevin Strillman (USA) took the sole lead with a fiery putter on the first day of the PGA Tour Valspar Championship.
In the first round of the tournament held at the Copperhead Course (par 71) at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, USA on the 22nd (Korean time), Strillman played flawlessly, making 7 birdies without a bogey.
The highlight of Streelman’s first round match was the putter.
Strillman, who started from the 10th hole, used the putter on the green only once during 10 holes, starting with the 14th hole (par 5). I caught 6 birdies in these 10 holes.
The number of putts in Strillman’s first round was only 24.
“I used the new ball marker with the spikes and it really helped,” Strillman told the PGA Tour after the first round.
“There is a solid line drawn on the circular part above the ball marker, and the marker can be fixed to the ground with spikes,” Strillman explained. “You can look at the line and turn it, which is a great visual help.”
Since the length of the spikes should not exceed 1 inch (approximately 2.5 cm), he added that he checked with the United States Golf Association (USGA) before the game and received approval for use.
Strillman, who won his second PGA Tour title at the 2014 Travelers Championship, participated in six tournaments this season and repeatedly missed the cut and withdrew, with his best result being a tie for 32nd at the Puerto Rico Open. 성인웹툰
