Seoul SK suffered an 18-point loss to the New Taipei Kings of Taiwan in an East Asian Super League (EASL) game.

The Kings fell 72-90 to New Taipei in a Group B game of the 2023-2024 EASL on Monday at Xinzhuang Gymnasium 스포츠토토 in Taipei, Taiwan.

SK moves to 1-2, while New Taipei, which played its first game of the day, tops the group with one win. The Ryukyu Golden Kings (Japan) are 1-1, with a game against Meralco (Philippines) scheduled for the 15th. The second-place finisher advances to the quarterfinals.

SK, last year’s runner-up in the tournament, took a 29-21 lead in the first quarter, but allowed New Taipei to pull away in the second quarter to end the half tied at 43-43.

At the start of the third quarter, New Taipei took the lead for good with a three-point play from former NBA guard Jeremy Lin, followed by a fastbreak layup from Kenny Manigault to make it 48-43.

With the momentum in their favor, New Taipei led by as many as 11 points by the end of the third quarter, and that didn’t change in the fourth quarter.

Lin, who was the center of attention for basketball fans on the night, had a triple-double of 12 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Lin’s younger brother, Joseph Lin, also had 21 points, hitting five three-pointers.

For SK, Jamil Warney single-handedly poured in 45 points, well over half of the team’s total. Kim Sun-hyung played 23:51 and finished with four points, four assists, and three rebounds.

SK will play Game 4 against Meralco on December 27.
