Bae Ji-hwan (Pittsburgh Pirates) had a multi-hit game (two or more hits in a game) to help the Pirates win their fifth straight game.

Bae started in the eighth spot in the lineup and went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB) Baseball’s 2023 World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, on Wednesday.

Bae led off the top of the third inning with a single to left field, trailing 0-3. He was unable to score on the next at-bat.

In the top of the fifth inning with the bases loaded and down 1-3, Bae hit a hard line drive to the second baseman, but he was quick to make the catch.

In the ensuing at-bat, Bae advanced on a walk by Key Brian Hayes and came around to score on a Brian Reynolds single to left.

With the score tied at 4-4 in the top of the sixth, he pulled a cutter off reliever Jacob Barnes’ fastball for the game-winning run. He was stranded in the eighth inning in his final at-bat.

Pittsburgh blew a two-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, but came back with two runs in the top of the ninth to win 7-6.

Bae raised his season average to 0.243 (63-for-259) from 0.239.

Kim Ha-seong, meanwhile, took the day off after going 0-for-4. His season batting average dropped slightly to .274 (125-for-456).

Kim started the day batting first and third against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

After leading off the first and third innings, Kim grounded out to third base and flied out to right field.

With the bases loaded and no outs in the fifth inning, he swung at a 150-mph fastball for a strikeout, and in the seventh, he tried a first-pitch slider for a grounder.

San Diego pieced together solo shots from Juan Soto, Xander Bogaerts and Gary Sanchez and a three-run wedge from Garrett Cooper to win 6-1. 토토
