The schedule for the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup has been finalized as Klinsmann’s men look to win their first title in 63 years.
The AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee announced the detailed schedule for the tournament on Monday (Jan. 21), including group stage match times.
The South Korean national team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, will face Bahrain, Jordan and Malaysia in Group E of the Asian Cup. South Korea will first face Bahrain at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on January 15, 2019, in their first Group E match.
They will then face Jordan at the Altumama Stadium on January 20 and Malaysia, coached by Kim Pang Gon, at the Aljanub Stadium on January 25.The 2023 AFC Asian Cup was initially scheduled to take place in China in July.
However, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the tournament was moved to Qatar and rescheduled for early next year. It will be held from January 12 to February 10, 2024.
The Asian Cup will feature 24 nations divided into six groups, with the first and second-place finishers from each group advancing to the round of 16. The top four teams from the third-place finishers will also qualify for the round of 16.
If South Korea finishes first in Group E, their Round of 16 opponent will be the second-place finisher in Group D. It will be one of Japan, Indonesia, Iraq, or Vietnam.
If they finish second, they will face the winner of Group F, which includes Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, and Oman.Klinsmann’s men come into the Asian Cup with a huge task.
The opening and final matches of the Asian Cup will be played at Lusail Stadium, a stadium that holds great significance as Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the help of the “God of Soccer” Lionel Messi (Inter Miami). The stadium was the site of the World Cup final between Argentina and France.
Argentina won their first title in 36 years on penalties after a 3-3 draw in extra time.
Messi, who had never won a World Cup trophy before, was named the Most Valuable Player after his multi-goal performance in the final. The Asian Cup organizers had originally planned to hold the opening and final matches at Alcor’s Albayt Stadium instead of Lusail Stadium, but changed their minds when the more iconic Lusail Stadium was added to the list of Asian Cup venues. 안전카지노사이트
