LG's new foreign pitcher Hernandez

Eliezer Hernandez (29), a replacement foreign pitcher for the professional baseball team LG Twins, showed off a refreshing pitch in his domestic debut.

Hernandez started in the away game against Doosan Bears in the 2024 Shinhan S0L Bank KBO League held at Jamsil Stadium on the 8th and pitched well, striking out 7 batters in 5 innings and allowing 2 hits and 1 run.

Hernandez, who recorded a top speed of 150 km/h, threw a mix of fastballs, sliders, cut fastballs, and even curveballs.

After throwing only 78 pitches, he handed the mound over to Lee Ji-kang in the top of the 6th inning with LG leading 6-1.

Hernandez, who received a passing grade in his KBO League debut, will be the winning pitcher if the bullpen maintains the lead.

Hernandez, who came up to the mound in the bottom of the first inning after LG scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning, seemed a bit nervous and allowed a walk to the first batter, Jeong Su-bin.

The next batter, Kang Seung-ho, struck out 홀짝게임 and Jung Soo-bin, who tried to steal second base, was tagged out, making it two outs.

However, Hernandez gave up his first run in the KBO League when he gave up a solo home run to Doosan’s foreign hitter Jared Young.

Hernandez struck out all three batters in the second inning, and struck out two more in the third inning to complete the game.

In the 4th inning, Hernandez allowed a center hit to Yang Eui-ji with 2 outs, but he got the game over without giving up a run, and he shut it out cleanly in the 5th inning with a triple play.

Hernandez, who signed a $440,000 contract for the remainder of the season after LG parted ways with Casey Kelly last month, is a native of Venezuela and has 11 wins, 7 losses, and an ERA of 2.87 in 159⅔ innings in 35 career Triple-A games in the Major League Baseball (MLB).

This season, he appeared in 9 games in the American Major League Baseball (MLB) and recorded 1 loss, no wins, and an ERA of 6.32.
