‘Home Run Show + Crowd Invasion + Pitcher’s at-bat’ content never ends

The LG Twins swept the Doosan Bears to extend their winning streak to four games and stay in second place.

LG won 16-7 at home against Doosan in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Monday. With the win, LG extended its winning streak to four games and reached the 50-win mark for the season, second only to the KIA Tigers. Doosan, on the other hand, fell to 49 wins, 2 losses and 45 draws.

The first inning belonged to LG. After Hong Chang-ki led off with a single to center, Moon Sung-joo flied out to center field, but Austin singled to right and Moon Bo-kyung walked to load the bases with one out. Kim Hyun-soo then grounded out to center field, allowing Hong Chang-ki to score and give LG a 1-0 lead.

After being held scoreless in the first and second innings, Doosan answered with a run in the top of the third. After an eight-pitch battle with Lim Chan-kyu, Kim Ki-yeon hit a 111-kilometer/h curveball over the left field wall for a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. It was Kim’s fourth home run of the season.

Doosan added another run after Cho Sung-yueng singled to right, stole a base and Kang Seung-ho doubled to left, and Kim Jae-hwan doubled with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 4-1. Jae-hwan Kim also hit a 113-kilometer/h curveball from Im Chan-kyu for a home run. It was Jae-hwan’s 18th home run of the season.

After LG tied the game in the bottom of the third inning with Austin’s solo home run, Doosan added one more run in the top of the fourth 파워볼실시간 inning when Cho Sung-ryeon grounded into a fielder’s choice and Kim Ki-yeon singled to right field. The score was 5-2.

The score flipped again in the bottom of the fourth inning. After Shirakawa gave up an infield single to Oh Ji-hwan and back-to-back walks to Park Dong-won and Park Hae-min, the Doosan bench opted for a pitching change. Against the new pitcher, Lee Kyo-hoon, Shin Min-jae and Hong Chang-ki singled to load the bases to tie the game at 5-5, and Moon Sung-joo followed with a single to score Shin Min-jae, who was on third base, to make it 6-5.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, as LG continued to hold onto the lead, there was a bizarre incident in which the crowd stormed the field. With the bases loaded and no outs, a man with a black umbrella ran into the outfield and was restrained by game officials and umpires. There was no contact with the players, but the game was suspended for a minute and then resumed. The man was taken to the police station.

LG then scored nine more runs to pull away from Dusan. In the bottom of the sixth, Shin Min-jae led off with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on Hong Chang-ki’s grounder, and after pinch-hitter Kim Bum-seok walked against substitute pitcher Hong Gun-hee, Austin’s home run came again with runners on second and third after pinch-hitter Choi Seung-min stole third. The score quickly grew to 9-5.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, they scored six more runs to make it a 10-run game. After a double by Oh Ji-hwan against Kim Yoo-sung and a single to right by Park Dong-won, LG scored another run when Park Hae-min singled, Shin Min-jae walked, and after the pitching change to Kim Ho-joon, Hong Chang-ki was hit by a pitch and scored on a throwing error.

In the ensuing at-bat, Koo Bon-hyuk grounded into a double play, Park Hae-min came home, Austin doubled and Moon Bo-kyung tripled to score three more runs and make it 15-5 in favor of Dusan. LG added one more run in the bottom of the eighth, and with the score tied and the bases loaded, pitcher Baek Seung-hyun came to the plate. Doosan scored two runs in the top of the ninth off Jin Woo-young on a solo home run by Park Jun-young, a double by Ramos, and a sacrifice fly by Jeon Min-jae after a wild pitch, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

In his second start since joining Doosan, Shirakawa allowed five runs on four hits (one home run) and four walks in three innings, striking out one. Lim Chan-kyu gave up five runs, but he made it through the sixth inning and was able to get the win with support from the bats. Lee Kyo-hoon took the loss in relief of Shirakawa.

LG pounded the Doosan mound with a 16-hit explosion. Austin led the way with four hits, including a multi-homer game, five RBIs and three runs scored, while Hong Chang-ki and Oh Ji-hwan each had three hits and Park Dong-won and Shin Min-jae each had two hits. Doosan, on the other hand, had three home runs from Kim Ki-yeon, Kim Jae-hwan, and Park Jun-young, but it was not enough as the team lost.
